Get Ready With Me! | What I’m Doing This Summer + Life Update

Hey guys! I’m really excited to share what I’m doing this summer with you all!

June is a bit crazy for me, as I’m not going to be home pretty much at all in July. This month I am pre-filming a lot of videos… 18 to be exact. Yes, 18. I’ve got some exciting things coming your way, so keep an eye out!

I’ve been accepted into the Los Angeles Ballet Academy Summer Intensive, so in July, I’ll be gone and living in LA with family for an entire month. Because it is pretty much all day for five days a week, I obviously will not have time to film or write posts or anything like that. However, I am going to try and Vlog a whole bunch for you guys to include you in what I’m doing. I’m really excited about getting my butt kicked this summer!

As far as the blog scheduling is concerned, in June I’ll be uploading my normal Wednesday and Friday videos and posts, but in July, I’ll only be posting on Wednesdays, unless I Vlog, which will end up going up whenever.

I’m really excited to share this summer with you all! I love you guys lots, and I’ll see you guys later!

xoxo

Hello Beautiful People!

It’s that time again where I tell you about the things I’ve been loving for this month. Also, raise your hands in the comment section below if you’re ready for the summer!!!

I’m going to start off with foundations. The first is my Motives Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation and I’ve been reaching for this a lot recently because I’ve been needing more of a full coverage foundation. My skin has been freaking out lately so I’m looking to cover those acne scars and spots! The other foundation is the Motives for La La Liquid Foundation. I’ve been loving the idea of cream bronzer, so I’ve been using this foundation since it’s about six shades too dark for me. It makes my bronzer look so flawless and natural and glowing and I’m obsessed.

I’ve mentioned these before and I’m going to mention them again. The Motives Luxe Creme Shadows in Gold Dust and Brown Sugar  are my life savers. I’ve been super busy recently, so if I wanted a bit of color on the eyes, I throw on these shadows, blend it out with a synthetic flat brush or a fluffy crease brush, throw on some mascara and I’m good to go. They’re so quick and easy to use.

New to my collection is the Motives Pressed Bronzer in Miami Glow. Miami Glow is definitely a bit too light and I will not be able to use this in the summertime as I get really dark during the summer months. However, it is a beautiful bronzer with a very slight shimmer, adding the perfect amount of glow to your face. If you have fair skin, you will be in love with this bronzer.

There are two nail polishes that I’ve been using for the last few months and I don’t know why it is taking me so long to tell you guys about them. They are the Motives Nail Laquers in the shades Vintage and Fairy Tale. The thing I love about the Motives Nail Laquers is the fact that they dry evenly very quickly. They are incredibly opaque and I only use one coat and I can run out the door in about 7 minutes. I particularly love these shades because they are neutral and delicate, just the way I like my nails.

As far as hair is concerned, I’ve been loving styling my hair in big voluminous beach waves, and I’ve been using the Batiste Dry Shampoo  to add volume and texture. I don’t wash my hair too often either, and it does a great job soaking up the oils in my hair. I mainly spray the ends of my hair rather than my actual head due to the fact that it does leave a white cast, but if you’re willing to take the time to rub it out, I’d recommend this to you.

The fragrance I’ve been using non-stop is the Ralph Lauren Romance Refreshing Body Mist . I used to not like this, but this year I’ve started liking much more deep, fresh, floral scents. Recently I’ve been spraying this all over and it is long lasting and smells incredible.

That’s it for my monthly favorites! I hope you’ve enjoyed my May Favorites. Let me know some of your favorites down below in the comment section! I love you guys!

I Failed?! (Thank You)

You guys know that back in March, I took my Advanced II exam. If you watched that Vlog, you’ll know that I had some pointe shoe drama. Well, my exam results came in about a couple weeks ago, and I failed the exam.

STANDARD NOT ATTAINED

My teacher texted me that morning and told me the news. To be honest, I’d already prepared myself as soon as I left the exam room for the possibility that I would fail. Of course, I also was hoping that the examiner would forgive the technical difficulty, but that was not the case. I wasn’t at all surprised, but I did feel a bit irritated. Not with the examiner, but with the situation.

The scoring of the exam works like this: if you fail one section, you fail the whole exam. You can score as high as 10/10 points. This was my score chart:

Technique 1: Barre   9/10

Technique 2: Port De Bras, Center Practice, Pirouettes:    8/10

Technique 3: Adage   7/10

Technique 4: Allegro 1, 2, 3 & 4   8/10

Technique 5: Pointe Barre, Enchainment 1 & 2     4/10

Technique 6: Pointe    3/10 (Failed)

Music:    9/10

Performance:    9/10

Variation Technique:    4/10

Variation Performance:    9/10

Total Score: 70% (Standard Not Attained)

Had I not failed my pointe technique score, I would’ve passed with a distinction. I was talking to my best friend about this and he asked me (in my opinion) if it was worst to fail or pass with a merit. I honestly feel like failing was better than passing with a merit, and I answered that with confidence.

I am so proud of myself. I have never seen four 9/10 scores in one exam before, and my score of 8/10 for Allegro 1, 2, & 3 is the highest jumping score I’ve ever had. Though the paper says that I did not meet the standards of passing, I don’t see it as failing. I see it as overcoming hurdles I didn’t think I could overcome.

The next step is to retake the exam next year. I’m excited to reach my goal of getting distinction and moving on to Solo Seal!

And to those of you who read my Facebook/Instagram/Snapchat post on this, thank you so very much for the messages of encouragement and inspiring posts you sent to me. Thank you for your support, your love, and for your kind words. I took each and every message to heart and was overwhelmed by you. I’m so glad that you guys have found inspiration in my failures!

What I Eat In A Day + Vlog!

Hey guys!

I haven’t Vlogged in a while and I really missed doing it! So on Saturday, I filmed my chill day and combined it with a what I eat in a day video as well!

BREAKFAST

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day if I’m being completely honest. I never skip breakfast. This day, I made some scrambled eggs with cheese, two pieces of turkey bacon, and a piece of sourdough toast. Another thing I love doing is putting avocado on toast and putting the eggs on top and it is incredibly filling and a balanced meal. I had a cup of coffee with my meal because (very sadly) I am addicted to it and love coffee so much.

LUNCH

To be honest, I probably skip lunch a lot more than I should. Sometimes I actually forget about lunch and don’t eat. However, when I do eat lunch, I usually go for the leftovers from the night before. This lunch was Teriyaki Chicken (link to recipe here!) and a bowl of mango and strawberries. At this time of day, I’m not usually that hungry, so this was a pretty small meal and I loved it.

DINNER

This night, my family, a family friend and I all went out to dinner. I ended up getting a caesar salad, a ribeye steak and a baked potato. Let me just tell you, it was incredible. On a normal night, I’ll cook something meant to last two days. Some of my favorite recipes are Chicken Burrito Bowls, Chili, and Lasagna paired with a vegetable.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I really enjoyed Vlogging and hopefully I’ll be doing it more often! I love you guys so much!

April Favorites 2017

Hey guys! I hope you guys have had a great April! It’s that time of the month again where I chat you guys through the thing I’ve been loving during the month. Let’s get started!

I haven’t put down my new BareMinerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Bo$$. I love the texture of this liquid lipstick. It’s easy to apply and the color is stunning. It wears well and lasts on me about 1-2 hours before I should reapply. It is by far the most comfortable liquid matte I’ve ever tried.

You guys know that blush isn’t really my cup of tea, so when the BareMinerals Ready Blush in French Kiss turned out to be my go-to blush this month, I was kind of surprised. I was really into the pink cheeks this month, probably because my looks were a bit bolder than usual. The blush is pigmented, beautiful, and is very wearable with many different looks.

I sadly am at the last bit of my most favorite Motives Long Wear Liquid Concealer, so I had a Sephora gift card and picked up a Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. I’ve heard so many great things about this concealer, so I picked one up to see why it has been so hyped. It is exactly as it sounds: radiant and creamy. It so creamy and so easily blendable, and it’s brightening, which is great for under the eyes. Definite win for April!

I don’t know if you all know this, but I have incredibly dry lips. They crack and hurt and after trying out a ton of different chapped sticks, I started getting discouraged. My mom introduced me to the Miracles Natural Soothing Ointment and after trying it out for a couple of weeks, it has helped hydrate my lips so much! Plus, who is going to go through this whole tub? It’s huge! What I really love as well is that it doesn’t taste like anything and there is no scent. It feels like a balm on the lips and has worked wonders for my lips.

Next is this little tub of Tuscan Honey Glycerine Hand Therapy. My friend gave me a little goodie bag after my exam of travel size products of different things, and I put them away in my drawer of body lotions and other products. My hands have been super dry lately, so when I found this in my collection, I was excited to try it out. It smells delicious and feels so good on the hands. It’s got this whipped texture and feels like butter (without feeling greasy, of course). I’ve been using it non-stop and I’m about to get a big thing of it and add it to my collection of go-to products. Thanks Renée!

So I love accessories, and I especially love dainty jewelry. I’ve been wearing these Francescas pearl earrings since I bought them back in March. They are lightweight and delicate, and I love the slight edge it brights with the drop being on the backing instead of the front. They go with literally everything I own, whether it’s a yoga pants and t-shirt day or a formal little black dress occasion.

I’ve also been wearing these Francescas diamond drop earrings which are also very delicate and lightweight. Like the others, they are incredibly versatile. I love how small the drop is and how you can’t feel it at all. They’re those kind of earrings that don’t demand a lot of attention, but when the light hits it at the right angle, it looks really beautiful. They are some of my favorite earrings ever and I will be wearing these a ton more in the future.

That’s it for this blogpost! I hope you guys find that some of these products can work for you and I hope you enjoy it! Question of the day: What are the products you’ve been loving this month? I’d love to know!

It’s Our One Year Anniversary!

I can’t believe it has already been one year since I started Sung Eun Rose Blog and our internet family was born. To be honest, in all of my busy-ness, I almost forgot about our anniversary. I was talking with my best friend about content for the next couple months, and he reminded me that our anniversary was coming up. Thanks E.

I’ve taken you along on some of my favorite times— my Advanced I Exam & my Advanced II Mock Exam and Exam, the American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive, and my Sweet 16, which you guys got to over 2K views!

I took you guys along to San Francisco with my family, we went to my aunt and uncle’s wedding, and I took you guys on a few photoshoots. We spend all of December together, and even a small bit of Christmas Day.

Other exciting things happened too. I started a business as a Motives Cosmetics Teen Associate and got certified in Custom Blend (creating makeup). I started a dance series called Life On Pointe, showing you guys a weekly update and hopefully inspiring you guys to follow your dreams as hard as I follow mine.

What I’m trying to say is in everything I’ve started and everything I’ve shared with you all, you have been incredibly supportive. Thank you for coming every week to watch my videos, read my blogposts, and support me in everything I’m doing. The messages I get from you guys truly make my day and put a smile on my face. Thank you for everything!!! Cheers to another year of excitement and adventure!

I need your help!!!

FullSizeRender

Hey guys!

So one of the best human beings I know needs our help. My friend AJ entered an essay contest, and out of 5,000+ applicants, he has made it to top 16. How amazing! If you guys could do me a favor and click on the link here and vote for Ari Moore (that’s how it’s spelled), that would mean so much to me and even more to him. You can vote for him daily, so please vote for his essay as much as you can! Thank you all!

Also on a completely different note, there will be no blogpost on Wednesday, but there will be one on Friday! Stay tuned for why…

I love you all so much! Have a wonderful, happy Easter!
